AEW Star Returns After Nearly Two-Year Absence At AEW Worlds End

Eddie Kingston found an ally in the form of a long-absent AEW star.

Kingston defeated the Grizzled Young Veterans’ Zack Gibson on the AEW Worlds End Zero Hour broadcast. Kingston got attacked after the bell, but he was saved by Ortiz, who ran down to the ring with a pool ball in a gym sock as an equalizer.

This was Ortiz’s first on-air appearance since January 2024.

Eddie Kingston and Ortiz teamed together in All Elite Wrestling until the latter was sidelined with a torn pectoral injury on the January 20, 2024, episode of AEW Collision. There, Ortiz and Eddie Kingston lost to Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli.

Ortiz has been staying busy backstage in AEW

In October, he told Wombreezy that he had about a year left on his contract with the company. During the same interview, he also shared that he had started working with AEW as a coach and producer. Ortiz said this new role was making him a better wrestler.

Ortiz finally made his in-ring return on December 10, 2025, a dark match loss to HOOK ahead of Dynamite: Winter is Coming on December 10. This was Ortiz’s first match in All Elite Wrestling in nearly two years.
