AJ Francis isn’t holding back against wrestling fans pretending to care about neck injuries.
It all started when William Regal spoke out about wrestlers being reckless in the ring with high-risk spots. The WWE executive also cited his own and Bryan Danielson’s troubled history with neck injuries that have yet to fully heal.
Fans interpreted Regal’s remarks as a response to the nasty bump Kyle Fletcher took at AEW Worlds End this past Saturday. The Protostar landed on his neck following a straightjacket suplex from the top rope, delivered by Jon Moxley.
Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega voiced his support for Regal’s message, “regardless of timing or perceived intent.” The Cleaner also called out tribalistic fans for turning the discussion into a company-versus-company debate.
AJ Francis fires shots at fans after William Regal’s message
TNA star AJ Francis did not mince words when sharing his take on the debate. In a series of posts on X, the former Top Dolla called out fans for making a mockery of his botched suicide dive on SmackDown a couple of years ago.
“It’s funny to me yall pretending to care about people’s mental health & neck injuries… I told yall I was literally DYING when I almost BROKE MY NECK doing the dive & yall just make jokes & memes about it and LAUGH when your favorite wrestlers make jokes about it in promos,” he wrote.
Francis followed up by saying that fans tried to ruin his career by constantly bringing up the spot from four years ago, pointing out the double standards among the internet wrestling community.
“Yall literally tried to ruin my career, mental health and LIFE about ONE SPOT 4 YEARS AGO… and CONSTANTLY bring that shit up. But as soon as one yall faves almost gets hurt, or someone else gets “bullied” online yall stand on a f*cking soapbox to protect them. YALL ALL FRAUDS”
AJ Francis concluded by praising his parents for their upbringing, saying:
“But luckily I was raised by parents that taught me that as a black man nobody cares about my feelings. That’s why I always am and always have been my OWN BIGGEST FAN. If I wasn’t as mentally strong as I am, I would’ve been knocked off my pivot. BUT WE THRIVE”
