CM Punk has no qualms about wrestling in a t-shirt. He also has no problem clapping back at Kevin Nash’s recent criticism of him.
Kevin Nash recently drew attention when he said that CM Punk looked “done.” Nash was responding to a fan opinion that Punk should lose his title to Bron Breakker on the January 5, 2026 episode of WWE RAW on Netflix. During his assessment, Nash criticized Punk for wrestling in a t-shirt, which he said was a classic sign of an older wrestler nearing retirement.
“I watched Punk in the main event of that match last Monday. Number one, if you’re the heavyweight champion of the WWE and you wrestle in a t-shirt, ouch,” Nash said on his Kliq This podcast. “Number two, his punches look really slow. He looks slow. I think he’s done. I think Bron should beat him.”
CM Punk reacted to Nash’s criticism in a hilarious way on Tuesday night during WWE’s live event in Fort Myers, Florida. Punk came to the ring for his match with Bronson Reed wearing a t-shirt, which he normally does. However, after some showboating, CM Punk took off his shirt… to reveal he was wearing another shirt underneath it.
CM Punk and Kevin Nash have history
CM Punk and Kevin Nash have crossed paths in WWE before. This includes an infamous 2011 feud that saw Punk mock Nash and bury him for being old.
“The Kliq’s back, woo hoo! Yeah! Which is kinda ironic, because ‘click’ is the noise the audience’s remote control makes every time Kevin Nash pops up on their TV screen,” CM Punk told Nash during a promo on WWE RAW. “And—wait, I’m not done—it’s the noise your knees make when you walk!”
A match between the two ultimately never materialized. Nash later claimed that he’s not sure Punk even wanted the match to happen. Nash told Sean Waltman on his X-Pac 12360 podcast that he also didn’t see the logic of being buried by Punk with old jokes after being the one to attack him the week prior.
“I’m reading the script and in the script he is burying me. I have no rebuttal, and [Triple H] is one of my best friends on earth. And anything that you do, like the old Kevin Nash would say—because in my mind, when I read that, and if you remember the scenario, the scenario was that I came down and stuck Punk and Del Rio came down and took the Money in the Bank and took his belt. So he comes out the next Monday and cuts this promo, laugh out loud that he heard I was dead, click, click, click your knees. Then I thought to myself, let me get this straight, I cost you the title, and you are going to do stand-up comedy and bury me because I’m old?”
