CM Punk successfully retained his WWE World Championship on WWE RAW. However, the post-match celebration saw him drop the title—literally.
The main event of Monday’s episode of WWE RAW on Netflix featured CM Punk defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker. The match, which went nearly 27 minutes, was a hard-hitting fight that saw Breakker nearly win on a few occasions.
CM Punk overcame the odds, putting Breakker down for the count with a GTS after The Vision was chased off by Rey Mysterio, Penta and Dragon Lee. The referee handed Punk the title after the bell, and Punk hopped up to raise the belt in the air. However, he didn’t have a good grip on it, and he accidentally fumbled it in the air and dropped it on the mat.
Punk quickly recovered and celebrated his win, then taunted Bron Breakker, who was standing in the aisle. This isn’t the first time a pro wrestler slipped up in the ring (or on the ramp, like Brock Lesnar recently did at Survivor Series).
However, it was still pretty funny to see CM Punk drop the belt on WWE RAW… just not in the way that some originally predicted.
