Becky Lynch Wants To Rename The WWE Intercontinental Championship

With a win over Maxxine Dupri on WWE Raw, Becky Lynch is once again the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion. In another world, though, Lynch says the title could be referred to as something else.

Speaking with Celia Rose Gooding at the Star Trek: Starfleet Academy blue carpet event, Lynch tossed out the idea of renaming her title.

“I won the Intercontinental Championship, and some people say, not some people, everybody says I’m the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time,” she said. “First two-time Intercontinental Champion. You know what? We’re going to change the name of the Intercontinental Championship. We’re going to name it the Intergalactic Championship; we’re taking this to a whole different galaxy.”

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, a sci-fi series coming to Paramount+, will see Lynch herself taken to another galaxy as she portrays Lieutenant Ya, a bridge officer on the USS Athena. When further asked about her character in the series, Lynch sent a stern message, indicating her protectiveness for the bridge crew and the Starfleet Academy as a whole.

“Don’t mess with the bridge crew; don’t mess with the Starfleet Academy,” she said. “Don’t come at us if you’re not ready for a fight because we’re going to bring the fight and we’re going to win.”

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will mark its official premiere on Paramount+ on Thursday, January 15. In the meantime, Lynch has continued her WWE title win celebration, both online and at the aforementioned Star Trek blue carpet event, held at New York City’s American Museum of Natural History.
