R-Truth Felt ‘Numb’ After WWE Release In 2025

WWE legend R-Truth opens up about his release from the company last year.

During his recent conversation with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, promoting the upcoming second season of WWE: Unreal, R-Truth opened up on his release from the company last year. At the age of 53, the former United States Champion felt numb after being let go from the company. However, he believes the overwhelming fan support that led to his return made him more popular and valuable than he has ever been in his career.

“My part is about when I got released. I haven’t seen it yet, because it’s very emotional for me. It’s when I got released and got so much overwhelming support from the fans. I call them family now. It’s just unreal, and this season, I’m just happy to be a part of it. If you haven’t seen it, you need to go see it.

“It was numb, Steve,” R-Truth said. “Sometimes, man, we lose and forget who we are. There’s people my age and older. Their time ain’t up. Each individual has his own time when it’s time, and we have time to make something happen within that time. So, I think everything that happened happened at the right time for me. Because, as we saw, man, I’m more popular and more valuable than I’ve ever been in my life and my career. Over hundreds of millions of people showed and told me that.”

R-Truth Is Proud Of Making These Two WWE Superstars Break Character

Speaking on an episode of SHAK Wrestling, RTruth noted that among the long list of WWE Superstars he’s made break character over the years, he’s proud of breaking Brock Lesnar and Triple H.

“Definitely Brock, but Triple H as well,” R-Truth said. “Because he was, Triple H, when he told me that he was working on not breaking, and he kind of like, I’m not going to, he was serious with me, that was one of my, ‘okay, I’ll get him,’ ones, because I didn’t- it wasn’t even like that, he was just like, focus on trying not to break, because we had a series, he didn’t want to break in front of me, and when he broke, that was one of my good ones.” [H/T: Fightful]
