CM Punk retained the World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Balor on WWE RAW.
After laying out the challenge last week in Düsseldorf, Germany, Finn Balor got a one-on-one match against CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship on this week’s episode of WWE RAW in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The match was Finn Balor‘s first shot at a world title since the triple threat contest at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2024, and his first singles world title opportunity since SummerSlam 2023.
Both superstars put on a great performance in the main event on WWE RAW. The match featured multiple near falls with both wrestlers kicking out of each other’s finishing moves. However, CM Punk prevailed in the end after he powered Balor up onto his shoulders and hit him with a GTS to score the clean victory.
CM Punk showed some good sportsmanship after the match when he pulled Finn Balor to his feet, raised his hand, and hugged him. Punk celebrated in the ring as a disappointed Balor looked on from the ramp.
With WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event and Royal Rumble fast approaching, it will be interesting to see which superstar steps up to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship next.
