Triple H Reveals Who Knew About Seth Rollins Fake Injury Angle On WWE Unreal

Triple H kept the truth behind Seth Rollins’ injury angle close to the vest.

On the July 12 edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, WWE fans and stars held their breath as Seth Rollins appeared to sustain a knee injury. This resulted in an audible being called for his match finish and medical staff helping him to the back. At WWE SummerSlam, it became clear that Rollins’ injury was actually part of a ruse aimed at surprising fans with his successful Money in the Bank cash-in on CM Punk.

In the latest season of WWE Unreal, WWE pulled back the curtain on the intricate planning behind Rollins’ fake injury. This included keeping only a small number of people in the know. WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque looped Cody Rhodes into that circle. HHH emphasized the importance of keeping the company’s real plans hush.

“I want to smarten you up to something that nobody knows,” Triple H told Rhodes at ringside before SNME. “I want you to not repeat it to anybody, but you’re our guy. You need to know what’s going on here. We’re going to do an angle tonight where Seth blows his knee out in this match with LA Knight. We’re kayfabing this like a motherf*cker.

Triple H stresses the importance of keeping things quiet

“So I don’t want you to mention it to anybody, because everybody will feel like ‘Hunter told everybody, and now, it got out.’ The only people that really know are me, Bruce [Prichard], and Bobby Roode, Seth, LA [Knight], [Paul] Heyman knows because he was there. I came up with it. Right now, that’s it.

“I don’t know what move they’re going to do yet, but he’ll do something towards the end of the match where he blows his knee out and LA sets up for the next thing, but like Seth ain’t there,” Triple H continued. “He’s down. He goes to Jess [Carr]. Jess gives the X, medical comes out, legit goes to him. He’ll call an audible, which Jess will go tell LA Knight.”

In the weeks following SNME, Rollins walked in crutches, and left WWE television in order to sell his “injury.” Of course, he later dropped those crutches at SummerSlam, setting up for a memorable MITB cash-in for the World Heavyweight Championship.
