What is WWE’s plan for Sami Zayn on the road to WrestleMania this year?
Last week on WWE SmackDown, Sami Zayn defeated Ilja Dragunov to advance to a fatal four-way this weekend at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The winner of that match will go on to challenge Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship later this month at the Royal Rumble.
So what’s Zayn’s current path of the road to WrestleMania?
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), at one point this month, Sami Zayn was tentatively planned for a WWE Title shot ahead of WrestleMania 42.
While a match against McIntyre at the Royal Rumble is definitely a possibility, it was recently reiterated to Sapp that the title shot would take place “likely before WrestleMania.”
Sapp is uncertain if WWE’s recent creative pivots have changed Zayn’s current plans.
