This TNA star was done for good — until a shocking betrayal forced him back into reality.
At TNA Genesis earlier this month, JDC (aka “Dirty Dango”) wrestled what was thought to be his final match against close friend Eddie Edwards. It took multiple finishers from Eddie to put down Dango. Both men embraced after the match as the rest of the TNA locker room came out to show their respect.
JDC’s replacement in The System was announced during the main event segment of TNA iMPACT last Thursday. The segment saw JDC handpick Bear Bronson as his replacement, only for Eddie Edwards to low-blow JDC before kicking out Dango and Moose, giving The System a violent reset.
Speaking during a recent virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest, JDC addressed the shocking betrayal. Expressing his resentment at Eddie turning against him, Dango explained why he chose Bear Bronson:
“I still have scars on my chest from Eddie Edwards jumping me. Him and the Bear (Bronson) kid… Because I had a lot of respect for Bear. I worked Bear up in Maine. I think he’s an unbelievable talent, and then come to find out, him and Brian (Myers) and Eddie planned some bullsh*t backstage and they turned on me.”
He then referenced Terry Funk’s multiple retirements throughout the late legend’s career to tease a possible return to in-ring action:
“Terry Funk retired in ‘83, last match, 2017. You wonder why? Because something always drew him back into the business, and I don’t wanna say this is drawing me back in but I mean, if anything, f*ck.”
While JDC reiterated his retirement from active competition, he didn’t rule out a future appearance, noting it would be up to TNA bookers Tommy Dreamer and Delirious if they wanted him to resurface on television.
“I am not gonna be on TV. I’m retired, so you’re gonna have to see where — I don’t know. Maybe I’ll pop back on TV… I don’t book the shows. Tommy Dreamer and Delirious do. It’s so fresh, I don’t really know what to think. I can’t even imagine having one of my best friends just use me as a stepping stone to debut two new talent in a group.” [H/T Fightful]
