Chelsea Green’s injury is more serious than first thought. What was originally believed to be a bad ankle sprain has now been revealed as an ankle fracture.
The injury happened on the February 6 episode of WWE SmackDown. Green competed in a Triple Threat Match against Tiffany Stratton and Lash Legend. The winner was supposed to earn a spot in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match. Stratton won after hitting her Prettiest Moonsault Ever on Green.
But after SmackDown, reports said Green had suffered an injury during the match. PWInsider noted that WWE believed she had suffered a serious ankle sprain. Green also hinted that something was wrong during a FaceTime call with Ethan Page, where she was seen wearing a walking boot.
Chelsea Green Is Dealing With More Than a Sprained Ankle
Now, Green shared an update in her trademark humorous way. She posted a fake newspaper front page called the “Chelsea Chronicle” with the headline, “Ankle Breaks; Spirit Prevails.” The post included an X-ray of her ankle and a caption about how she bravely finished last Friday’s match despite being hurt.

Earlier, the belief was that Green had only sprained her ankle and might miss just a couple of weeks. She had a follow-up doctor’s appointment scheduled, and unfortunately, it seems that the visit brought worse news.
Chelsea Green’s latest update, along with the X-ray she shared, suggests that the injury is indeed a fracture. WWE has not yet released an official medical update or given a timeline for her return. However, if it is a confirmed fracture, she could be out for several weeks, possibly months.
Even after being the recipient of bad news, Green has kept her sense of humor. Earlier this week, she jokingly blamed WWE management for “negligence” and posted a list of funny “demands” for SmackDown.
Her injury has also affected plans outside WWE. Since she couldn’t appear at AAA tapings, Ethan Page had to defend the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship with La Hiedra against Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana instead.
