WWE has reportedly yet to determine the direction of a top championship for WrestleMania 42.
WWE kicked off the road to WrestleMania 42 with the 2026 Royal Rumble PLE in Saudi Arabia. The company has started building up the card for the two-night event in Las Vegas. However, a recent report suggests that plans for the WWE Women’s Championship on SmackDown are still in development.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE has yet to determine the direction for the WWE Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 42. The company has reportedly discussed several possibilities, with Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair being among the names pitched to face Jade Cargill for the title at the event.
Jade Cargill won the WWE Women’s Championship from Tiffany Stratton at Saturday Night’s Main Event in November 2025. Despite her reign crossing 100 days, she has yet to defend the title. Jordynne Grace is currently looking to face Cargill for the gold, and her name might also be in the mix along with Charlotte Flair and Stratton.
With WrestleMania 42 approaching fast, fans will get a clear picture of Jade Cargill‘s opponent in her first title defense in the coming weeks.
If the report is anything to go by, it might’ve have also subtly confirmed that Women’s Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan will go on to face Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship at WWE WrestleMania 42.
