CM Punk Doesn’t See His WWE Retirement Tour Happening Anytime Soon

As more wrestling legends start planning their final matches, CM Punk says fans shouldn’t expect a retirement tour from him anytime soon.

Lately, retirement tours have become a big thing in pro wrestling. Last year, John Cena undertook one and signed off in style. In Japan, especially, it’s common for legends to have long farewell tours with special matches and big events.

But Punk doesn’t seem to be thinking of replicating a tour of his own anytime soon.

CM Punk Doesn’t See a Reason To Step Away From Wrestling Right Now

Speaking on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast, the current World Heavyweight Champion was asked if he sees himself doing a retirement tour one day. “I really don’t know,” Punk said.

He explained that retirement tours are a big part of Japanese wrestling culture. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion pointed out how stars like The Great Muta had special shows leading up to their retirement. He noted that this idea is newer for Western wrestling fans.

CM Punk also talked about John Cena’s recent farewell run. While some fans had mixed feelings about it, the WWE star said he thought it was a smart idea.

“So Cena did it, and I thought it was brilliant, you know, to say, ‘This is the last time you’re going to get to come see me, you get to see me put my boots on and wrestle or appear.’”

But when it comes to his own career, Punk isn’t making any plans just yet. Moreover, he admitted that he would like to keep his plans a secret. “I almost don’t like talking about it, because I don’t think it’s gonna be anytime soon. And the way our business is, I like to keep some things shrouded in secrecy and mystery. So we’ll have to wait and see,” he said.

The WWE star doesn’t sound like someone getting ready to step away, even at 47. “I’m just trying to keep myself in one piece because I think I’m on the run of my life and doing the best work I’ve ever done. Why would I want to step away now?” he said.

So, for fans hoping for a grand CM Punk farewell tour, it looks like they will have to wait.
