A major indie name was spotted at a recent WWE NXT taping.
X user @BeastWrestler21 recently posted several photos from the February 17 episode of NXT. The pictures show Lainey Reid posing for her entrance alongside WWE Women’s Speed Champion Fallon Henley.
Upon closer inspection, fans can spot Richard Holliday sitting in the crowd on the top-left side. For those unaware, Holliday is a former MLW Tag Team Champion and one of the top names on the independent scene right now. He’s known for his “Signature Move” gimmick and standout social media videos. During MJF’s stint with Major League Wrestling, Holliday, along with MJF and Alex Hammerstone, formed The Dynasty.
Fellow independent sensation Nikki Blackheart was also seen sitting nearby. Nikki reportedly took part in the latest WWE tryouts, which were also set to feature Airica Demia and Notorious Mimi, the latter having previously worked in NXT as Sloane Jacobs before her release in 2022.
Though not officially confirmed, it’s likely that Richard Holliday attended the NXT taping as part of WWE’s new tryouts. Holliday previously participated in a tryout in September 2023 but didn’t receive an offer from the company.
Looking back on his tryout, Holliday said it was a great experience and that he had an awesome time. It was recently reported that TNA is looking to add the former MLW Tag Team Champion to its roster, with initial creative input pitching Holliday as “Mr. Elegance” before the gimmick ultimately went to AJZ.
