TNA iMPACT Results

The show opens with a recap of TNA No Surrender. We then see Indi Hartwell make her way to the ring for Knockouts action against Heather by Elegance. The commentary team recounts Mickie James’ surprise appearance from last week. For those unaware, the TNA Hall of Famer showed up to fend off The Elegance Brand’s attack on Hartwell and Xia Brookside.

Indi Hartwell vs. Heather By Elegance

  • The finish of the match saw Indi Hartwell plant Heather with the Hurts Donut full nelson slam for the win.

Winner: Indi Hartwell

Grade: C+

A decent opener. Ash By Elegance called out Mickie James for a face-off next week. Heather suffered an awkward landing while attempting a Spanish Fly but thankfully avoided injury. Indi pinned one-half of the Knockouts World Tag Team Champions, so does that mean another shot at the titles?

Steve Maclin just wants to plead his case

Footage from earlier tonight airs. Steve Maclin tries to enter the building but is met by security and close friend Tom Hannifan, who questions Steve’s motives after he attacked Mike Santana at No Surrender. Tom tells Steve he will be arrested if he tries to trespass into the building. Maclin says he doesn’t care and wants to plead his case. He asks his best friend to speak to management and get him inside.

We hear from Mike Santana

TNA World Champion Mike Santana is in the ring. Santana recaps Steve Maclin’s sneak attack at No Surrender. He says he knows Steve better than anyone and understands what he’s trying to do, but Santana vows he’s going to “drop your bitch a**.” Santana then calls for Leon Slater to come out and join him in the ring.

The TNA X Division Champion makes his way out. Santana welcomes Leon Slater back to the iMPACT Zone. Mike warns Slater about Daria Rae playing mind games with him regarding the possibility of exercising Option C. Santana says Slater proved he had the world champion’s back, but admits he couldn’t do the same for the X Division Champion at TNA No Surrender. Mike puts Slater over for pinning former world champion Nic Nemeth.

Slater says there are no hard feelings. It’s pro wrestling, after all, and pinning Nic Nemeth meant more at the end of the day.

The Nemeths arrive, and Ryan Nemeth begins his usual over-the-top introduction before Mike Santana threatens him to cut it out. Nic says Santana and Slater got lucky at No Surrender. Slater tries to respond, but Santana tells him he’s got it. He then continues to hype Slater for pinning Nic at the event. Slater says nobody wants to hear Nic’s excuses and challenges the brothers to a match before Daria Rae interrupts.

The S.U.I.T. tells Slater to shut up because she’s the one who makes the matches around here. Daria says the match isn’t happening tonight on TNA iMPACT, but she might book the four wrestlers to compete next week. She then tells the TNA World Champion and the X Division Champion to leave the ring because they’re delaying a scheduled match.

The System with a warning for Moose

The System is in the locker room. Brian Myers wonders why Moose had to interrupt their beatdown of Mike Santana and Leon Slater at TNA No Surrender. Bear Bronson bangs on a locker before saying Moose made a big mistake by coming to the aid of the TNA champions. The segment ends with The System delivering their catchphrase.

The King returns next week on TNA iMPACT

Daria Rae is on the phone, telling someone she’ll handle everything. Frankie Kazarian shows up and asks her to put him on commentary for next week’s TNA iMPACT showdown between The Nemeths and Mike Santana and Leon Slater.

New TNA Knockouts World Champion Arianna Grace speaks

Arianna Grace is in the ring with Stacks. Grace relishes her world title win at TNA No Surrender. She says all the online complaints are from people who never believed in her, never got to be with her, or were never champions. Arianna offers a sarcastic apology to Santino Marella for playing him like a fiddle. She acknowledges she was put in the world title picture because of him, but it was her own effort that won her the title. Grace ends her promo by hyping Stacks’ upcoming International Title match against Trey Miguel.

Trey Miguel (c) vs. Stacks – TNA International Title Match

  • The finish of the match saw Trey Miguel hit the Lightning Spiral on Stacks for the win.

Winner and still TNA International Champion: Trey Miguel

Grade: B+

A solid first title defense by Trey Miguel, who brought his own custom TNA International Championship. Miguel also seems to have added some mass, which could really set him apart as the TNA International Champion compared to his leaner physique during his faster-paced X Division Championship run. A minor detail, but it still counts.

TNA Injury Report

Tonight’s TNA injury report is brought to you by BIOFLEX.

Eric Young has a message…

Eric Young delivers another warning to the TNA locker room. He says they’re going to cleanse the company of all the false prophets, the politicians, and the impostors. He then focuses his attention on Leon Slater, dubbing it the second phase of the Cleanse. Young says Slater is seeking validation from another company (WWE) despite being the TNA X Division Champion, a title that was once the lifeblood of TNA Wrestling.

Tessa Blanchard vs. Jody Threat

  • Jody Threat picked up a DQ win after being attacked by Victoria Crawford and Myla Moore.

Winner: Jody Threat

After the match, Crawford and Moore set Jody up for Blanchard’s attack. Tessa delivers a kick to the gut and goes for the ribs, but Harley Hudson and Myla Moore arrive. It seems a six-person tag team match is being set up for a future episode of TNA iMPACT.

Grade: C+

Is it just me, or is TNA being extra cautious when it comes to promoting Tessa Blanchard on social media? She’s arguably one of the best between the ropes, but she may never fully escape the shadows of her controversial past in this age of the internet. As for the match itself, there was nothing of note in terms of in-ring action. The heels not attacking the babyfaces while their backs were turned was awkward.

BDE and Rich Swann vs. Sinner & Saint

  • The finish of the match saw Sinner and Saint hit BDE with Total Annihilation for the win.

After the match, both teams show respect to each other, suggesting that Judas Icarus and Travis Williams are now faces.

Winners: Sinner & Saint

Grade: A-

A great showing from both teams. BDE took a barrage of strikes from Icarus and Williams, looking like he was fed to the wolves. Pairing him with Rich Swann seems like the right direction before he ultimately embarks on another solo run.

Brawl in the locker room

Mance Warner and Steph De Lander have some harsh words for AJ Francis. Warner takes out a security guard outside AJ’s locker room, while Steph tells two women who are getting cozy with Francis to leave. Warner and AJ then get into a heated confrontation before the two women call security on them.

Can The Hardys trust The Righteous?

The Hardys are in the middle of cutting their promos on The System when they are confronted by the faction. The System tells Matt and Jeff they are at a four-on-two disadvantage — only for The Righteous to show up. Dutch apologizes for the miscommunication at TNA No Surrender. Matt questions if they’re legit, and Vincent says they can prove their loyalty any way The Hardys want. As The Hardys leave, The Righteous tease a possible collusion with Daria Rae.

Elayna Black & Mara Sade face-off

Elayna Black is in the ring, ranting about her elimination in the Knockouts Battle Royal at TNA No Surrender. Black says everyone is jealous of her and calls out Mara Sade, who eliminated her at the event, for a face-off. Sade shows up to a decent pop and recounts her history with Black, sharing their time in the NXT locker room before arriving in TNA. Black claims that, unlike Sade, she grinded on the indies and labels Sade an industry plant. Sade responds by saying she’s a go-getter who respects those who came before her and paved the way — legends like Mickie James, Jazz, and Naomi. The promo ends with a tease for a singles match between the two.

Next week on TNA iMPACT

  • Mike Santana & Leon Slater vs. The Nemeths
  • Dani Luna vs. Lei Ying Lee
  • AJ Francis vs. Mance Warner
  • Ash By Elegance and Mickie James face-to-face
  • Jada Stone vs. Tasha Steelz
  • The Hardys & The Righteous vs. The System
  • We’ll hear from Steve Maclin

Elijah vs. Mustafa Ali – Guitar Case Casket Match

  • The finish of the match saw Elijah chokeslam Mustafa Ali through a door and into the guitar casket before shutting the lid for the win.

Winner: Elijah

Grade: A+

This match was overbooked from bell to bell, and I absolutely enjoyed it. Ali took some brutal punishment: being tossed onto stacked chairs from the ramp, hitting face-first on a wedged chair, performing a 450 splash through a table on Elijah, taking a guitar shot to the face, and getting chokeslammed through the door. With Order 4 finally in the backdrop, let’s hope Elijah can focus on bigger and better things.

Overall Grade: B+

A solid show apart from some underwhelming matches and segments. I’m intrigued to see how the Mickie James and Ash By Elegance feud plays out. As for the tag team division, Sinner and Saint’s future looks promising. The Elayna Black–Mara Sade face-off gets a thumbs down — I’ve never been a fan of Elayna. The main event was brilliant. Hopefully, TNA has big plans for Mustafa Ali, because he’s been nothing but consistent in his work.
