Jacob Fatu doesn’t want his WWE career to be all about who he is related to. Being part of the famous Bloodline family is an honor, but Fatu wants to be known for his own work, not just recognized as Roman Reigns’ cousin.
Fatu debuted in WWE during WrestleMania weekend in 2024. The Samoan Werewolf then became part of the new Bloodline group led by Solo Sikoa, alongside Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. He stepped in as the group’s powerhouse. But with that spotlight came comparisons and talk that he was only there because of his family name.
Jacob Fatu Looks To Carve Out His Own Identity in WWE
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Fatu said he doesn’t want to just be known as “the cousin.” He has been grinding since his indie wrestling days and knows WWE is a different level. He wants to prove he can carry his own weight.
“Being so humble and everything, everybody knows Jacob is happy to be here. But man, the response I get now. The response I’ve been getting since I got here but, I see what type of position and motion we’re in right now. I see what we’ve got going on. I gotta be able to pull my weight. Jacob Fatu, I don’t wanna be known as the cousin,” Fatu said.
Even though he is a year older than Solo, Fatu has said he respects Solo’s experience especially when it comes to big WWE shows.
“I’ve been doing this since the indies but I told Solo, ‘It’s a different thing being on the indies to being here and I’m a year older than Solo, but Solo, tell me what I need to do to lace up in here.’ Because he has been in way more PLEs than me…I would never never forget. Anyway, this goes back to what Solo was saying, ‘Man. Make sure you be able to bang with the best of them, and pull your weight.’ I don’t want people to just know me as Jacob, ‘Oh he’s just Roman and uce’s cousin,’ nah,” Fatu added.
Fatu already has some big moments under his belt. In August 2024, he won the WWE Tag Team Championship with Tama Tonga. Later, he gave up his half of the titles so Tonga Loa could step in while he focused on being Solo’s enforcer.
His breakout moment came at WrestleMania 41 when he defeated LA Knight to win the United States Championship. He held the title for 70 days. Fatu lost his title to Solo at Night of Champions after outside interference, which created tension between them.
Things really blew up at Money in the Bank 2025 when Fatu shocked everyone by attacking Solo during the ladder match. That officially ended his time with the New Bloodline and kicked off a heated feud. At one point, Solo even tried to frame him for a car crash in the storyline. By then, Fatu had turned into a fan favorite.
