Chelsea Green was once mistaken for being an escort, which caused severe backlash before WrestleMania 40 weekend. She recently shared more details about the incident and what happened the night she was removed from The Plaza Hotel.
The situation goes back to April 2024. At the time, Green posted on X saying the hotel had kicked her out after they mistook her for an escort because of what she was wearing. The WWE star had been in New York for a WWE Raw taping and decided to stop by the hotel’s Champagne Bar for a drink.
Chelsea Green Explains Hotel Incident That Led to Her Removal
During her recent appearance on What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes, Green shared more details on that incident while talking to Brandi Rhodes.
Green said she was wearing a denim skirt that went above the knee, a white off-the-shoulder top, a long black jacket, and knee-high boots, and explained that her outfit was completely appropriate. “We were dressing for the girlies,” she said.

“They kicked me out because they thought I was an escort, okay. And that all went viral and was a little bit crazy. Then, because of that, the manager of the plaza called me and gave me like a free stay anywhere in the world. And he was like, ‘So where do you wanna go?’ I’m like, ‘Oh, well…like I’m working all the time. I don’t know that I can just choose that now.’ He’s like, ‘Okay, no problem. So what I’ll do is I’ll put it for your hometown, Fairmont, and then you can just choose. You can choose.’ Okay. Well, then I went to go redeem it…it didn’t exist. They were doing me dirty,” Green revealed.
She was with fellow WWE star Maxxine Dupri when it happened. The two walked in through the front doors and headed toward the lobby bar before security stopped them. Green recalled the security allegedly telling them that they couldn’t enter because only hotel guests were allowed. She said that confused her because she had visited the hotel before with her father during past trips to New York.
“I didn’t know what was going on and they were like, ‘Only guests of the hotel are allowed.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, like I’ve done this before, but okay.’ And they’re like being so rude and literally Maxxine is like, ‘I don’t understand,’ to them, like, ‘I don’t understand why you’re being so rude.’ And I’m like trying to figure out what’s going on. Yeah. Then a hotel guest comes through and sees that this is happening and says to the bouncers, like, ‘No, they’re fine. They can come and have a drink at the bar. I’ll let them in. I’m staying.’ And that’s when he goes nuts,” Green said.
Things got worse when another hotel guest offered to bring them in as his guests. Instead of helping, Green said it made security more suspicious.
Chelsea Green felt embarrassed, especially since other people in the lobby were watching. She then tried to book a room at the front desk just to prove a point, but security stepped in and physically escorted her out before she could finish.
“Like everyone was looking and then, and then because I was so mad, I was like, ‘Not this guy. I’m going to book a room.’ So I go traipsing to the front desk to book a room. Literally out of spite. We had a hotel room. And I was just being a brat. So I go traipsing to the front desk and I go to book a room and then security came and like basically tried to grab me and take me out of the hotel,” she said.
“The best part was when the manager called, like he had watched the footage. And like, seen that I was absolutely…like there’s no way these two girls are in the wrong. I was gonna see Chicago damnit. He nearly ruined my night,” Green added.
After she shared her story online, it quickly went viral. Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, which manages The Plaza, later apologized and offered her a free two-night stay at any Fairmont property around the world.
However, Chelsea Green later revealed that when she tried to use the voucher, she was told it was only valid at a specific location in Vancouver and that it had already expired.
