AEW Star Ricochet Denies Walking Back Anti-WWE Remarks

AEW‘s Ricochet has clarified that he never walked back his anti-WWE remarks.

Reigning and Inaugural AEW National Champion Ricochet has been blasting WWE on social media and in interviews since leaving the company in 2024. He recently claimed that his time in the promotion’s main roster tarnished his wrestling legacy and that he almost lost his love for the sport.

However, after he noted that he enjoyed his time in WWE and made great memories and friends in the promotion during a recent conversation with Josh Martinez, some news outlets reported it as him walking back his original stance. Responding to one such report on X/Twitter, Ricochet claimed it was misinformation and reiterated that he still believes WWE tarnished his wrestling legacy.

“See misinformation. I never walked back anything. AFTER BEING ASKED A QUESTION IN AN INTERVIEW haha I simply said I did enjoy lots of my time there. I stand by the fact I believe my wrestling legacy was tarnished,” Ricochet posted.

Ricochet made some controversial comments about AJ Styles joining AEW

Following AJ Styles’ retirement match against Gunther at the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble, fans started to speculate about the Phenomenal One potentially signing with AEW. During an appearance on The Adrian Hernandez Show, Ricochet, in character, dismissed the idea, saying Styles doesn’t have the guts to show up in Tony Khan’s promotion.

“I don’t think he’s got the guts. I know he’s the Phenomenal AJ Styles, but the bar’s been raised over here,” Ricochet said. He doubled down by listing names like Kazuchika Okada and Tommaso Ciampa, questioning whether Styles would want to test himself in what he called “a different ball game.”

AJ Styles himself put these speculations to rest when he reaffirmed that he’s retired for good and that he has no plans to sign with AEW. He also debunked the rumors that WWE only put him in the Hall of Fame to prevent him from going to Tony Khan’s promotion.
