WWE’s Finn Balor Does Not Recommend Smoking Weed To Get In Shape

Finn Balor speaks on the positive benefits of using cannabis, but knows it’s not for everyone.

Balor recently made headlines when he said he smoked weed after his cardio sessions. Bálor also said cannabis was responsible for coming up with his popular with his popular Demonito puppet gimmick. However, Balor said he can’t actually recommend smoking weed to get in, or stay in shape.

Balor’s comments about cannabis use were brought up during a new interview with “The Masked Man” David Shoemaker and Kazeem Famuyide on The Ringer Wrestling Show. During the conversation, Famuyide humorously asked, ‘Can we talk about weed really quick?’ before Balor highlighted the benefits he’s seen from smoking weed.

“I want to say I use it to stay in shape. I stay in shape by training hard every single day,” Balor said. “To get in shape, you got to be running, you got to be doing burpees. You got to be working out, you got to be sweating. There’s a lot more that goes into being in shape than just a little recreational 420, if you know what I’m saying.”

Finn Balor wants to see cannabis use more widely accepted

Kazeem said it’s still great for recovery, and Balor added that it’s good for stress and anxiety. However, he knows it’s not for everyone. He also knows that alcohol is terrible for athletes, but it’s more widely accepted, and he hopes cannabis is more widely accepted in the future.

“As a professional athlete, there’s a lot of performance anxiety, there’s a lot of stressors. There’s a lot of adrenaline that you can’t just flush out of your body too easy. So, to relax, I don’t think [smoking weed is] the most unhealthy way to relax,” Balor explained.

“[There] seems to be this weird cultural acceptance of alcohol, which is poison for an athlete. I don’t think it should be this shocking thing,” he continued. “I think [marijuana use] should be more accepted. We’re trending in the right direction, and obviously, I don’t encourage it for everyone, but I feel like for some people, it works. For others, it doesn’t. For me, it does, and I can only go off of my experiences.”
