Gunther Eyes Future Matches With Three Rising WWE Stars

Gunther has already proven himself as one of the most dominant forces in the WWE. Lately, he has been known as the “career killer” because of retiring some legends. However, the Ring General wants to be more like a “career maker” with his future matches.

During a recent appearance on Cody Rhodes’ podcast What Do You Wanna Talk About?, Gunther spoke about his long-term goals in WWE. He said that he hopes to reach a position where he can help younger wrestlers grow. The key to doing that is by having great matches with them on big stages.

Gunther Names Ilja Dragunov, Oba Femi and Bron Breakker As Future Opponents

While discussing the future, Gunther mentioned three rising WWE Superstars he would like to face someday. Ilja Dragunov, Bron Breakker, and Oba Femi are at the top of his list.

Gunther explained that he often thinks about his role in the company. Moreover, he mulls how he can contribute beyond just winning titles. WWE has always had dominant stars at the top, like Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. And Gunther believes he can help the company once he reaches that level.

“There’s a whole younger generation out there too, where it’s like, because obviously, you review your position in the company and all of that stuff, and it’s like, what is there? Obviously, there’s like a Roman that’s here for long and Brock..that are at that spot for such a long time. And I feel like where I wanna get to is to be able to get into that spot, but then wrestle Ilja in that position. And have great matches with Bron down the line in that position. Have great matches with Oba. There’s many more of them,” Gunther said.

“I feel like that’s what I wanna get to. I wanna be the guy that’s gonna be able to wrestle all of them, have great matches with all of them, and kind of like contribute that way,” he added.

However, despite Gunther’s desire to reach the top of WWE, he admitted that he doesn’t necessarily want to be the traditional “face of the company”. The Austrian doesn’t want the responsibilities that come with the tag. He doesn’t see himself enjoying constant fan interactions, media appearances, and other public responsibilities. He feels that these responsibilities don’t suit him.

Gunther praised Cody Rhodes for doing that part of the job so well.
