The rivalry between Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame is about to get even more intense. WWE has officially announced a steel cage match for the NXT Women’s North American Championship on next week’s episode of WWE NXT.
After the events at NXT Vengeance Day, the former allies will now face each other inside a “weaponized” steel cage when NXT travels to Houston next week.
The announcement was made during the March 10 episode of NXT after tensions between Paxley and Dame rose again.
Tatum Paxley To Defend NXT Women’s North American Championship Against Izzi Dame
The show began when Paxley entered the ring. As the new NXT Women’s North American Champion, she talked about her emotional win at Vengeance Day and the difficult journey that brought her to that moment.
Paxley spoke honestly about how she often struggled to feel accepted. She said there were times when she thought she needed to change herself just to fit in.
But winning the championship helped her realize something important. Paxley said she didn’t need to change who she was and thanked the NXT fans for believing in her when she had doubts about herself.
She also spoke about her past with The Culling, especially her former friendship with Dame.
But her celebration didn’t last very long as Dame soon came out and interrupted her. Izzi Dame began mocking the champion and said that beating her must have been the biggest moment of Paxley’s life.
Dame also accused Paxley of pretending to be someone she wasn’t. Things got even more tense when Shawn Spears and Niko Vance appeared at ringside. Their presence distracted Paxley, giving Dame the chance to attack her.
The drama continued later in the night. Paxley found Dame backstage, and the two started fighting again. The brawl grew bigger as other members of The Culling joined in.
Because of the ongoing chaos, Robert Stone stepped in to take control of the situation. The interim NXT GM announced that Paxley would defend her title against Dame in a steel cage match next week.
The steel cage is meant to stop outside interference from The Culling. It will force Paxley and Dame to finally settle their issues one-on-one.
