WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield was the recent guest on the Undertaker’s Six Feet Under podcast. During the conversation, he detailed the role the late Eddie Guerrero played in his transition from a tag team wrestler to a singles star in 2004.

JBL revealed how Guerrero volunteered to drop the WWE Championship to him to solidify his position as a main eventer. He noted that he owes his entire career to the late legend.

“Eddie Guerrero not only made me, Eddie Guerrero gave me the angle that not only made me but took the title off himself. So, my whole career, I owe to Eddie. I’m putting that man over,” the WWE legend said.

Speaking further, JBL also looked back at the bloody match he had against Eddie Guerrero at WWE Judgment Day 2004. He noted that they walked into the bout with zero planning after Guerrero rejected the agent’s idea. He also praised Latino Heat’s understanding of the business, calling it a “lost art” only a few wrestlers in history have mastered.

“Eddie couldn’t put a match together backstage to save his life… He felt things. He just got out there and did things,” the WWE Hall of Famer explained. “It was unbelievable… that was 100% feel with Eddie.” [H/T WrestlingNews.co]

While he has already detailed the amount of input Guerrero had on the angle, JBL thanked the Guerrero family for their willingness to push boundaries.
