WWE veteran Sgt. Slaughter recently recalled a real-life backstage incident where he stepped in to stop Nailz from attacking Vince McMahon.
The incident happened in the early 1990s at an arena in Green Bay, Wisconsin. According to Slaughter, the situation started after a production meeting when Nailz went to confront McMahon over money issues.
Sgt. Slaughter says he pulled Nailz off of Vince McMahon
Speaking on Going Ringside, Slaughter shared detailed memories of the moment and confirmed that he physically intervened to stop the attack. “Yes, it was. Uh, we had just gotten done with a production meeting, and everybody left the office, and Vince was the only one in there making some calls.”
He explained how Nailz approached him before entering McMahon’s office. “Nailz came over and said, ‘Hey Sarge, is Vince around?’ I said, ‘Yeah, he’s in the office here.’ So I opened up the door. I said, ‘Nailz would like to talk to you.’ He said, ‘Send him in.’”
Things quickly got out of control. “All of a sudden, we heard the furniture flying around… Nailz had Vince down on the ground, choking him.” Slaughter said he rushed in and tried to stop Nailz. “So I ran in and knocked his arms off of Vince’s throat and ran him into a chalkboard… he went around me and started choking him again.”
He then stepped in again to restrain Nailz. “I did the same procedure… knocked his hand off, pushed him up against the blackboard, and I pinned him in there.” Slaughter said Nailz suddenly calmed down after that.
After McMahon was taken out, Nailz called the police, stating that McMahon molested him. Slaughter said McMahon looked shaken after the incident. He had marks on his neck and was coughing. Nailz was later fired from the company.
