Al Snow explains why he doesn’t respond to fans who criticize him over a recent controversial OVW incident.
During an OVW Rise taping on March 12, 2026, referee Dallas Edwards suffered a seizure in the ring after he collided with wrestler Brendan Balling, who attempted a flying forearm from the turnbuckles. What appeared to be a planned spot went awry, but instead of stopping the match or offering any help, the performers simply moved Edwards out of the way and continued with the contest.
After the incident drew a lot of heat from fans and wrestling personalities, OVW issued a statement. The promotion’s co-owner and lead booker, Al Snow, who is a former WWF European Champion, also faced severe online criticism. However, he doesn’t seem to be bothered by them, as he explained why he never reacts to any of those criticisms when he spoke to Vince Russo on his The Brand podcast.
“I’m not gonna argue with someone over the internet. Here’s why. I don’t respond to anybody, anytime. Yeah, on Twitter, I turned off the thing because I was advised to do that. I couldn’t care less,” Al Snow said. “Everybody was like, ‘You’re a coward,’ you know what? Oh, you’re gonna hurt my feelings because you’re gonna write something more.
“I laughed this morning when I read the comment on Instagram about you know, ‘Steroids enlarge your heart. I hope it does.’ I thought, ‘That was stiff.’ I laughed at it, and if you think you’re gonna get another response out of me other than ‘Your mom,’ you’re crazy. It’s not gonna happen,” he said.
Al Snow has two reasons why he doesn’t respond to those who criticize him online
“For two reasons. One, in order for me to get upset or offended, do you know what I need to do? I need to respect your opinion. I don’t. You’ll never offend me, you’ll never upset me, because I don’t care what you think or say, because it’s your opinion. And that’s fine, you can have it. You can say that I should never work in wrestling again because of this, etc. Go ahead. I don’t care,” Al Snow said.
“It don’t mean anything to me. It doesn’t bother me, and I’m not gonna respond. Why would I respond? Here’s the other reason I will never respond. You’re on social media for one reason. Just so that you can get external validation and you can feel like you’re more relevant than just inside your own personal circle. That’s it,” Al Snow said.
“And when I respond to you, I’m now making you relevant, I’m acknowledging your comment, which is giving you that gratification and that validation that you wouldn’t have gotten, and also exposes you to my audience that doesn’t know you even exist. So that’s why I don’t respond,” Al Snow concluded.
Snow later followed up and said he isn’t “done” with the IWC, but he’s had enough with the “sanctimonious witch hunts” that social media feeds off of.
