Tama Tonga’s fine for posting a WWE pre-show rehearsal video is reportedly in the five-figure range.
Ahead of last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast took to X/Twitter to report that the promotion fined Tama Tonga a significant amount of money for posting a video of the rehearsals the previous week on his TikTok. The company reportedly has an unwritten rule about not recording and posting anything from the rehearsals. The MFT member seemingly reacted to the fine by posting a neutral-face emoji on social media.
While there’s no detail about the exact amount WWE fined Tama Tonga, Fightful (via Fightful Select) has reported that it’s in the five-figure territory.
Despite WWE publicly sharing backstage content with the Netflix docuseries WWE: Unreal, and occasionally on social media, it appears the promotion keeps rehearsals very private.
The video that got Tama Tonga fined resurfaced online
After the news of Tama Tonga’s fine broke, the video the former tag team champion posted on TikTok resurfaced online, even after he deleted the original.
The clip showed several superstars, including Solo Sikoa and Cody Rhodes, inside and outside the ring. Tama Tonga also approached a production crew member, addressing him as “T,” and asked him when the doors open for the fans to come in.
JC Mateo and Tama Tonga lost the WWE Tag Team Championship to Damian Priest and R-Truth on last week’s episode of SmackDown. The show also featured a backstage moment, which showed some tension between Tonga and Solo Sikoa. It will be interesting to see if the fine will have any impact on his bookings in the coming weeks.
