Josh Alexander is set to have surgery to repair a knee injury.
Alexander was helped backstage after suffering a knee injury during the March 18 AEW Collision taping in Fresno, California. At the time, F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer reported (via The Wrestling Observer Newsletter) that the extent of Alexander’s knee injury was still unknown. Meltzer noted that Alexander’s knee had been bothering him for years, and knew he’d need to take care of it at some point.
There was some hope that Alexander would not need surgery. However, the AEW star has confirmed that he does need to have a procedure to fix the damage.
Alexander shared a video on his social media accounts, explaining his current situation and timeframe for a return.
“I just found out minutes ago how serious this is. I’ve been limping and in pain for a week. But my surgeon told me I’m going to need surgery this coming Wednesday,” Josh Alexander explained. “My knee injury is pretty severe, so I will not be cleared to compete. And there’s no timetable set right now for when I will be back.”
Alexander was scheduled to compete at Ring of Honor and Maple Leaf Pro’s Global Wars and Uprising live events in Windsor, Ontario, on March 27 and 28.
The match in which Alexander was injured, an AEW World Trios Title match against JetSpeed and Mistico, aired on Sunday’s episode of Slam Dunk Collision.
