Shotzi is one of the big names ushering in the new era of Major League Wrestling. The league continues to film content for the return of its flagship series, MLW Fusion. The two biggest questions that remain are ‘when’ and ‘where,’ but Shotzi says the latter will be addressed soon.
Shotzi spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard to promote her appearance at MLW’s Fantastica Mania event on April 12. The former WWE star signed with MLW last month, and she explained what went into the decision, which came after touring the indie scene for the past ten months.
“I told myself that I wouldn’t sign anywhere for like the next year or two. I definitely needed a year or two to find my footing and just have a good time and just have that freedom and that creativity,” she explained. “I’d already committed to so many dates with MLW and I have so much fun there, I get my TV fix there. The storylines that I’m doing at MLW are just fulfilling me creatively.
“They really value my input and they really understand my character, so it was just like a no-brainer to me,” she continued. “I just didn’t want to go back into that same situation where I sign somewhere and then I’m stuck in catering and I’m not able to wrestle, have fun, and be creative. But with MLW, I have all of that, and I’m still able to go to Japan or Mexico, wrestle for all these other companies, and do me. So yeah, it was just a no-brainer to me. MLW is what Shotzi Blackheart needs right now.”
Shotzi says fans won’t be waiting long for MLW Fusion
Earlier this year, Major League Wrestling teased the return of MLW Fusion. The promotion has already hosted several live events that have served as Fusion TV tapings. However, they have not shared when and where the show will air yet.
According to Shotzi, that news will be revealed soon. She also shared her excitement about what having a regular TV show means for the company.
“I saw that and I was like, ‘Okay, yeah, they’re pushing mountains to make this happen, and I really think that it could be a really awesome thing for pro wrestling.’ I’m really proud of our roster and really proud of the way that they run creative. So yeah, I think that Fusion is going to be really, really cool,” she explained.
“And then just seeing what we have in store for Fusion, I’m really excited about because it’s nothing like what’s happening in any other wrestling company. The creative at MLW is unlike any other. I’m excited for everyone to see it once it finally airs,” she added. “Trust me, it’s killing me that [the broadcast details are] not out yet. But I can tell you that it will be soon. You guys won’t be waiting long. So yeah, Fusion, I’m really excited about, and I just cannot wait.”
