A new face has officially stepped into WWE NXT — and his arrival has already reshaped the road to the vacant Speed Championship, though the full impact is only just beginning to unfold.
Dorian Van Dux made his NXT television debut on the April 7, 2026, episode, appearing alongside EK Prosper and former champion Elio LeFleur.
The moment didn’t just introduce a new powerhouse — it quietly set the stage for a high-stakes tournament clash next week.
Dorian Van Dux vs. EK Prosper confirmed for the Speed Championship tournament on WWE NXT
In a backstage segment, Dorian Van Dux was looking excited for his debut as EK Prosper interupted by informing him about their match next week.
WWE later confirmed that Van Dux will face EK Prosper on the April 14 episode of NXT as part of the Speed Championship tournament.
Elio LeFleur vacated the title on March 31 due to a shoulder injury, leaving the division without a champion. Plenty of hungry contenders meant that a tournament was created to “speed” things up.
Van Dux enters the match with momentum already building. Previously known as Mike D Vecchio on the independent circuit, he debuted on WWE Evolve on April 1 with a decisive win. He showcased a blend of raw power and surprising agility during his appearance.
His sit-down powerbomb finish made a strong first impression — not quite a “power trip,” but close enough.
Prosper, on the other hand, brings a very different style. Formerly Eli Knight, he was rebranded to avoid confusion with LA Knight. To solidify his newfound identity, he has built a reputation on speed and aerial offense. He’s no stranger to the Speed title picture either, having competed in multi-man matches for the championship in the past.
The contrast in styles makes this matchup particularly intriguing.
With the Speed Championship up for grabs, Dorian Van Dux looks all set to make his in-ring NXT debut.
