AEW‘s MJF had a rare moment where he stepped out of his heel character during an interview.
Reigning AEW World Champion MJF recently appeared on The Adam Friedland Show. However, host Adam Friedland made MJF wait a bit before starting the interview. The Salt of the Earth said as he waited, “This is a big deal for him. He’s interviewing the World Champion,” when the lights suddenly went out.
“The lights don’t work anymore,” MJF continued before The Undertaker’s gong hit. The AEW World Champion burst out laughing, breaking character, as Adam Friedland made his way out to the Deadman’s music, wearing a cowboy hat. “Very nice. Wow. The problem is that you look more like a ranch hand with the hat on than The Undertaker. A Rabbi, yeah, that’s another one. You’re just missing the Pesach,” he joked.
The clip went viral on X/Twitter, and MJF responded to it, saying, “A) didn’t realize I played a character. B) didn’t realize I’m not allowed to laugh.
MJF pitched ‘Wednesday Night Wars’ documentary to Tony Khan
During his recent appearance on the Late Night Grin podcast, MJF revealed that he pitched a “Wednesday Night Wars” documentary to AEW President Tony Khan. He wanted the documentary to focus on AEW’s victory over WWE’s NXT in their head-to-head ratings war, between 2019 and 2021, which ended with NXT switching to Tuesdays. He believed it would be a good idea because some of the NXT talent from that time, like Swerve Strickland and Adam Cole, are currently with AEW.
“We literally won and we have guys that work in our company now that were on the other side. It would be f****** sick. You can sit down [Adam Cole] and [Roderick Strong], Kyle [O’Reilly] and Swerve. You know, all these guys that were on the other side of the war…you can’t sit down Bobby Fish unfortunately…I mean folks, where’s the lie?” MJF said, borrowing Fish’s infamous quote. [H/T F4WOnline]
