AEW Provides Health Update on Kenny Omega Ahead of Dynasty Title Match

As AEW Dynasty on April 12, 2026, gets closer, fans have been worried about Kenny Omega’s condition. Now, AEW has finally given a health update ahead of his AEW World Championship match against MJF.

The concern started on AEW Dynamite during a contract signing. Things got heated when MJF brought up Omega’s battle with diverticulitis. He claimed Omega’s body is still weak and could break down at any time.

MJF even called Kenny Omega a “ticking time bomb” and hinted that wrestling again could be risky for him. This made the rivalry feel even more intense, as it’s not just about the title anymore but also Omega’s condition.

However, AEW cleared things up. During a backstage interview on the April 8, 2026, episode of AEW Dynamite, company doctor Doc Samson said MJF was just trying to mess with Omega’s mind. He confirmed that Omega has been fully checked and is fit to compete.

“I think he (MJF) is trying to get in Kenny’s head. I spoke with Kenny afterwards just to make sure that everything…He was good with us talking about his medical condition. Obviously, he had diverticulitis. He had a surgery. Yes, there’s post-surgical complication. But Kenny is in the best shape of his life right now. He was cleared by a surgeon. He was cleared by me. So, he is ready to go. But I just think that Max is getting in his head and I’m not happy with that,” Samson said.

Omega also looks confident. In his promo, he admitted that he lost part of his intestines during surgery, but still said he is “100% ready” for Dynasty. His recent matches back that up, including a big win over Swerve Strickland to earn this title shot.

Back in late 2023, Omega started experiencing health problems like stomach pain and bloating, but he ignored them at first. Things got worse, and he had to be hospitalized in December. Doctors later said it had become life-threatening due to an infection in his colon.

Omega finally had surgery in May 2024. He was out of action for over a year because of recovery. He returned in early 2025 and slowly got back to his best.
