Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Named One Of The Greatest Self-Made Americans

Forbes has named actor, businessman, and WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on their list of 250 greatest Self-Made Americans.

The Rock has detailed his humble beginnings, including financial struggles, frequent evictions, a failed football career, and dealing with depression on several occasions over the years. He persevered and rose to fame in WWE, which paved the way for his transition into Hollywood and led him to become who he is today.

Now, Forbes has honored The Rock’s “grit, hustle, and resilience” by putting him at the 70th spot on their list of the greatest living Self-Made Americans. The list honors 250 Americans who achieved the American Dream, starting from nothing and reaching the top of their fields. Oprah Winfrey holds the top position.

“#70. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, 53.

“The Rock named his production company Seven Bucks as a reminder of a bleak time: cut from the Canadian Football League, he arrived broke in Tampa with “a five, a one and change,” the list read.

The official announcement on Forbes X/Twitter noted, “Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has cashed in across industries. From his start in wrestling to a series of roles in Hollywood to the beverage industry, Johnson’s raking in millions every year. However, @TheRock’s production company, Seven Bucks Productions, is a callback to his humble beginnings when he arrived in Miami with ‘a five, a one and change.’ He’s earned a spot among the greatest living self-made Americans on the #Forbes250 list.”
