Becky Lynch Admits WWE Rivalry With Top Star Hurt Her Real-Life Relationship

Becky Lynch spoke about a past rivalry recently with WWE star Charlotte Flair and their history together. The rivalry was not only on television, as it also affected their real-life relationship.

Lynch and Flair faced each other many times in WWE matches. They were involved in several major storylines together. Things became tense backstage around October 2021, which followed the “Championship Exchange” segment on SmackDown.

Charlotte Flair went off-script during that segment and did not drop the title as originally planned. That situation caused frustration about trust and tension between the two. At the same time, both stars remained in top positions.

Over time, the situation improved between the two stars. They later worked together again in WWE programming. However, the earlier tension remained part of their story.

Becky Lynch says WWE rivalry affected her relationship with Charlotte Flair

Speaking on the Good One Podcast, Lynch was asked about Charlotte Flair’s rivalry and how it impacted their friendship. She said, “Yeah. Badly. Yeah. Poorly. Look, I suppose that’s as well the business, you know, and you’ve got two very competitive women who want to be the top of the industry.”

The host continued with another point during the discussion. He mentioned the limited opportunities in wrestling. Only so much television time is available weekly. Only a few championships are featured regularly.

Lynch said, “Yes. Yes. Especially at that time, I think. Yeah. I think you’re right in that, I think it might be better now, but also maybe that’s not a great thing.” In the end, Lynch kept it simple. It hurt their relationship. But it also came from wanting the same thing, which was to be the best.
