Pat McAfee got stretchered out of the Allegiant Stadium even before the bell rang for the main event at WWE WrestleMania 42.
The Undisputed WWE Championship storyline between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton for WrestleMania 42 had a controversial twist when Pat McAfee turned heel and revealed himself as Orton’s mystery caller. Fans did not like the move, and several WWE Superstars expressed their dissatisfaction with the angle.
The match is currently underway at WrestleMania 42, but it had a chaotic start as Pat McAfee attacked Cody Rhodes before the bell rang. However, Rhodes recovered and took out McAfee with a Cross Rhodes before laying him out on top of the announce table.
Jelly Roll, who was in Cody Rhodes’ corner, performed an elbow drop on Pat McAfee, sending him crashing through the announce table. Ringside doctors brought out the stretcher and took McAfee to the back. However, he was seen flipping off the Las Vegas crowd as he got stretchered out.
Pat McAfee’s removal turned the match into a proper one-on-one contest between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.
McAfee ultimately returned during the match, running out in a referee shirt and neck brace after Orton RKO’d referee Charles Robinson. McAfee attempted to help Orton win the match but didn’t make the proper three count before Rhodes kicked out. Orton ultimately RKO’d McAfee to end their alliance. Rhodes took advantage and immediately hit Orton with a Cross Rhodes to retain.
