Roman Reigns Wins WWE World Championship From CM Punk at WrestleMania 42

Roman Reigns said he’d be walking out of WrestleMania with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and he did just that, taking the belt off of CM Punk in an instant classic.

The match between Reigns and Punk, the main event of Sunday’s night of WrestleMania, lived up to the billing. From the very start, both stars were going at it, trading big punches and blows any chance they could.

Spots included Reigns delivering a series of Superman Punches to a trapped Punk hanging upside down off the ropes, to Reigns landing a massive hit with the steel steps onto Punk. Punk even took an ula fala from the crowd and tried to hit Reigns’ Spear on him, to no success.

Later in the match, both took to the ground to exchange submission attempts. By then, both Punk and Reigns had been bloodied and were clearly exhausted. Punk hit a Go To Sleep, but collapsed under the weight of Reigns when trying a second one.

Reigns then hit a massive Spear on Punk, but similarly couldn’t do much after it. Then, with both stars downed and staring at one another, Reigns summoned enough strength to hit one last Spear, and that was enough to win the match.

With the win, Reigns claims his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and his seventh world championship overall with the company.
