Trick Williams is a WWE champion, and recently had a message to those who might question his ability inside of the ring.
During WWE’s WrestleMania 42 post-show conference, Williams — who beat Sami Zayn to become the new WWE United States Champion — was asked about criticism levied against him. Specifically, Williams was asked if he had anything to say about Zayn and others’ criticism, questioning his abilities inside of the ring.
For some time, Williams had been known as a great personality outside of the ring, but many doubted whether he could hold his own inside of it. Now a champion, Williams said it never bothered him, because he knows how hard he works.
“I proved that I would do anything to get the job done,” Williams said. “What Sami Zayn doesn’t understand is you don’t just wake up looking like this. You don’t just get handed opportunities, you get blessed, and I’m not going to sugarcoat that, but you work hard, man. I train very, very hard to get put in this situation, so no, if somebody doesn’t believe that I deserve it, I don’t care nothing ’bout that.
“Because I clapped for everybody else when it was their turn, and now that it’s Trick Willy’s turn, we gon’ turn it up, we gon’ whoop that trick, and we gon’ have a good time.”
