WWE Raw Results:
Highlights from nights one and two of WrestleMania play as the show kicks off.
The lights drop in the arena, and the crowd starts chanting “Oba! Oba!” Oba Femi’s music hits, and Femi struts to the ring.
The lights drop in the arena, and the crowd starts chanting “Oba! Oba!” Oba Femi’s music hits, and Femi struts to the ring.
The Ruler
Oba Femi stands in the ring as the crowd chants his name. Femi can’t get a word out. The crowd is deafening for the Ruler of WWE. Femi lifts the mic and simply says, “The Ruler has arrived.” Femi drops the mic and poses as the crowd chants.
Grade: A
Keep it simple, stupid! The crowd did all the work for Femi tonight. This man is hotter than a pot of grits. This writer doesn’t think it’s time for Femi to challenge Roman Reigns yet. If they do it too soon (which they probably will), it will be the main event of SummerSlam. If Femi doesn’t win that match, having him (maybe) retire Brock Lesnar makes no sense. What do you think should be next for Femi? Let us know in the comments!
WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY vs. The Kabuki Warriors
SKY and Ripley are in control early, working over Sane. Ripley begs for Asuka to get in. Asuka tags in and trades strikes with Ripley. Asuka floors Ripley with a flurry of kicks. Capoeira kicks out of nowhere by Ripley. Ripley was sent flying out of the ring. After a distraction from Asuka, Sane lands a diving elbow off the top to a standing Ripley.
After the break, Asuka and Sane are working over Ripley. Ripley manages to tag in SKY, who clears the ring. Ripley sends Asuka flying with a Razor’s Edge. SKY follows that with a missile dropkick. Asuka escapes the Riptide. Sane and Asuka meet in the middle on Ripley. SKY breaks up the pin. SKY takes out Asuka with a dive. Back in the ring, Ripley surprises Sane with a headbutt followed by Riptide! SKY lands the Over the Moonsault for the win.
Winners: Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY
Grade: B
Solid opener. It would be nice to see Sane win a match now and again, but there is no way Ripley and SKY were losing this match.
It’s Clobbering Time!
Former World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk stands in the ring while the crowd chants his name. Punk notes he’s been dealing with a lot of loss over the last few months. The crowd cheers as Punk puts over the people who keep the show going behind the scenes, that they have lost, and they should be celebrated. Punk thanks the fans for helping him heal and get through these losses. Punk poured his heart and soul into this and won back his world championship. He stayed ready, and when the opportunity arose, he took it. If he didn’t stay ready, they would all be standing here, Yeeting with Jey Uso. The crowd boos. Punk quips that he doesn’t know why they are booing that; he likes to Yeet. He lost last night, but he’s still smiling.
Why? Because he’s still the best in the world. He stood on the brightest stage, and he proved it. WrestleMania wasn’t his night; he isn’t going to cry about it, he’s not going on vacation, he’s going to stay ready. You never know when a title shot will just fall out of the sky. Punk starts to leave, but Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes‘ music hits. Rhodes joins Punk in the ring. Punk asks if he screwed up his time queue? He was trying to leave. Rhodes asks Punk not to. After some back and forth, Punk intimates that at some point, a title opportunity may fall out of the sky while staring at the WWE Championship. Punk leaves. Rhodes tells Punk to just say when.
Grade: B
Despite the tacked-on Rhodes stuff, this was another masterclass by Punk. Could you imagine having that guy on your roster and choosing someone over him? You’d have to be a fool to do that…
Ethan Page vs. Je’Von Evans
After a series of counters, Evans surprises Page with a springboard stunner. While the referee is trying to break them up in the corner, Page cheapshots Evans. Page beats down Evans. Evans fires up and lands a bouncy rana. Page falls out of the ring. Superman dive by Evans!
After the break, Page lands a slingshot powerslam for a nearfall. The fight spills out of the ring. Rusev appears and whiffs on an attack on Evans. After the distraction, Page manages to push Evans off the top while he was setting up the OG Cutter. Page hits Twisted Grin for the win.
Winner: Ethan Page
After the match, Rusev beats down Evans. Penta tries to make the save, but Page pushes Penta off the top. Machka Kick by Rusev. Rusev puts Penta in the Accolade.
Grade: C+
This was probably the worst of Evans’ matches against Page. They had several bangers in NXT, but this is a one off TV match so despite it being Page’s main roster debut, they clearly wanted to save a bit for when it may mean more. Rusev got to stand tall on Raw again. At some point, Rusev needs to win. Destroying everyone when it doesn’t count doesn’t help anyone.
The Greatest Women’s Champion of ALLLLLL TIMMMME!
The new Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan is with the rest of the Judgment Day. Morgan thanks the rest of the Judgment Day for being there for her. Morgan also wants to thank her WrestleMania opponet Stephanie Vaquer. Vaquer reminded Morgan of who she is. Morgan is the most talented woman in WWE. This is her ring and her championship. Sol Ruca interrupts. Ruca puts Morgan over. Morgan threatens Ruca. Ruca says she didn’t come here for a fight, but she won’t run from one. Raw GM Adam Pearce walks out on the ramp and books Ruca vs. Morgan right here, right now.
Sol Ruca vs. Liv Morgan w/The Judgment Day
Ruca flips around the ring to avoid Morgan. Low superkick by Ruca. Morgan tries a slam, but Ruca slips out and lands a facebuster. Morgan rolls out. Ruca crushes Morgan with a triangle moonsault. After the break, Ruca dives off the top into a code breaker from Morgan.
Ruca kicks out. Ruca flips out of Oblivion and hits the Sol Snatcher! Morgan rolls out of the ring before Ruca can pin Morgan. Ruca flattens Rodriguez and Perez with a Sasuke Special!. As Ruca is celebrating, Zaria hops the barricade and attacks Ruca. Morgan hits Oblivion for the win.
Winner- Liv Morgan
After the match, the former champion Stephanie Vaquer walks out on the ramp and has a face off with Morgan.
Grade: C+
For a minute there, they were paying homage to the Paige/AJ Lee bit from years ago. This read just like that and ended with a match, but the title wasn’t on the line. Odd to run this with Paige sitting in the crowd and only going halfway with it. PULL THE TRIGGER, YOU COWARDS!
The Vision…
Heyman said he had a whole speech prepared, but he can’t even right now. What happened yesterday was unexpected. Heyman goes on a rant about the production team still having Brock Lesnar in the Now section of the opening of the show. The crowd goes nuts as rants about Heyman’s Beast needing to be in the Forever section because he is forever the Beast, Brock Lesnar. Heyman calms down and wants to talk about the now. Heyman puts over Logan Paul and Austin Theory. Paul tries to speak, but the crowd drowns him out with boos. Paul blames ISHOWSPEED for their loss at WrestleMania. Paul rants about streamers being outsiders and not belonging in his business.
Heyman thanks Gunther for doing him a favor by taking care of his problem at WrestleMania. Heyman welcomes back Bron Breakker, who joins his teammates in the ring. Breakker rants about taking out Rollins every chance he gets. Seth Rollins music hits. Rollins appears behind the Vision with a chair. Rollins gets a few hits in, but gets overwhelmed. The Street Profits make the save. The tag teams fight to the back. Breakker is bleeding from the back of his head after the chair shot, but he charges in for a Spear. Rollins counters with a superkick. Breakker avoids the Stomp and hits a Spear. Rollins gets to his feet. Breakker hits a Super Spear.
Grade: B
Amazing energy here by everyone involved. There seems to be some confusion about the Street Profits’ involvement here. I doubt the Profits are aligned with Rollins; they just want the tag titles, so this may be a partnership of convenience.
Finn Bálor vs. JD McDonagh
Bálor clotheslines McDonagh over the top as soon as the bell rings. McDonagh and Bálor fight into the crowd. Bálor brings McDonagh back to the ring. McDonagh avoids Bálor’s double stomp, and sends him out of the ring. After the break, Bálor lands the double stomp for the win.
Winner: Finn Bálor
After the match, Dominik Mysterio attacks Bálor from behind. Bálor fires back and almost lands a double stomp. McDonagh pulls Mysterio out of the ring.
Grade: C+
Ok TV match, with yet another predictable mess after the bell.
As the new Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns makes his way through the backstage area, he runs into The Usos in Gorilla. Reigns motions for his cousins to join him. As the OG OTC theme plays, Roman Reigns, with Jimmy and Jey Uso in tow, makes his way to the ring.
The OTC
Roman Reigns tells the crowd to acknowledge him. Reigns says he had a lot to say, but he ran into his cousins, and it got him thinking. Reigns misses THIS. Reigns wants to do business. Reigns says they need to be a fist. He isn’t asking the Usos to serve him; Reigns wants them to stand with him. Jimmy says everyone else is the twos and they they ones. Before Reigns and the Usos can put up the ones, Jacob Fatu’s music hits. Reigns says it’s been a while since he saw Fatu. There are only a couple of reasons Fatu would be out here, but Regins assumes it’s to acknowledge him.
Fatu says that ain’t it. Reigns says it must be because he wants the title? Fatu says he doesn’t want it; he needs it. He doesn’t want to be the Tribal Chief. Fatu wants everything the Tribal Chief has. Fatu will do anything for his family, even if that means going through his family, so Fatu challenges Reigns to a match at Backlash. Reigns notes that Fatu may be able to beat him, but can he handle what comes with being the champion? Reigns isn’t so sure, but he will give Fatu a chance to think about all this. If Fatu loses, he will have to acknowledge Reigns.
Grade: A
The Fatu challenge and a reforming of the Bloodline is everything we needed to close out what has been a good show. Zero notes. Fatu and Reigns are going to feed countries at Backlash.
WWE Raw Review:
This has been one of the better Raws after Mania. We got a few solid debuts with Ruca and Page, Femi is the new beast of WWE, the Street Profits, a Bloodline reunion, and Fatu is officially in the main event. What more could you ask for?
Rating: B+
