Hulk Hogan Considered Suicide Before TNA Deal ‘Saved’ Him

Hulk Hogan shared a very personal story, and it came from his final interviews in a new Netflix docuseries.

The moments he described were very heavy and real. He spoke about a time when things felt completely lost. The Netflix docuseries “Hulk Hogan: Real American” shows that period closely. It focuses on his life after his divorce from Linda Hogan.

That phase hit him harder than many expected. His personal and financial situation both took a hit. Everything started falling apart around him slowly.

Hulk Hogan says TNA deal changed his life

Hogan described how things spiraled quickly after the divorce, claiming he “just went down this rabbit hole for a couple days.”

Then he shared a shocking moment. He said, “I’m sitting in front of my bathroom with a gun in my mouth and not knowing what I was doing.”

Eric Bischoff also spoke about that period. He said Hogan was in deep pain back then. The situation around him kept getting worse daily. Between the divorce and health issues, nothing felt stable. It was one of the toughest phases of his life.

Bischoff said, “He was down and he was hurting, and I was probably not the only person he could talk to, but one of the ones he felt most comfortable talking to at that time. And I told my wife, said, I think I’m gonna go to Florida for a while and just hang out. So when we come back, I said, I don’t know. He was in the darkest, most devastating part of his life up to that point. Your wife’s divorcing him and your doctor’s giving you fistfuls of pills that would kill a horse, and you’re chasing it down with a quarter a day.”

Hogan admitted he hit rock bottom. He said, “I hit rock bottom. I gave Linda 70% of everything because I just didn’t want to ever talk to her again. Be with her. Never want to see her again. So I gave her everything to get rid of her. And after the divorce. I had no money, I was broke, and so TNA saved me.”

Still, things were not easy for him physically. His body was already dealing with a lot of pain. Getting back into wrestling took a toll on him. Even then, he pushed through that phase. Hogan stayed with TNA from 2009 to 2013.

He had the final match of his career during that run. Years later, he passed away in July 2025 at 71.
