Cody Rhodes Gives ‘Absurd’ Update on Eye Injury At WrestleMania 42

Cody Rhodes shared an “absurd” update on the eye injury he sustained at WWE WrestleMania 42.

Cody Rhodes successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against his former mentor, Randy Orton, at WrestleMania 42. However, he walked away with some battle scars when his eye swelled after taking a punch from Orton during the match, and taking a punt kick from the Viper after.

Cody Rhodes showed his brutal eye injury on RAW after WrestleMania 42 in a segment with CM Punk. While fans are speculating whether it would result in the Undisputed WWE Champion taking time off from the ring, Rhodes provided an update on his Instagram story, which has since disappeared.

“‘You won’t lose the eye…’ has to be the most positive yet absurd thing I’ve ever heard in a doctors office,” Cody Rhodes wrote.

A new report about Cody Rhodes’ planned match for WWE Backlash next month speculated that the American Nightmare might not be okay for the event due to the eye injury. WWE had also noted that Rhodes is out indefinitely after WrestleMania 42 and has yet to provide more details.

Cody Rhodes says there’s one way he’d change his WWE theme song

During his recent appearance on Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast, Cody Rhodes spoke about his WWE theme song, Kingdom. He explained that a great wrestling theme doesn’t necessarily need to be musically complex, but it does need to be memorable and catchy.

“The trick with a wrestling song, all the greatest wrestling music, it doesn’t need to be a good song. It needs to be a catchy song. I like ‘Kingdom,’ but the issue is, I hear it so much that, especially at the end of the night when I’m doing the rounds, just playing that one song, it gets you,” Cody Rhodes said.

Cody Rhodes also shared that his daughter, Liberty,  has started singing along to the song despite not knowing the lyrics. He then noted that the theme is unlikely to change unless he undergoes a character change in WWE.

“I heard my daughter the other day, she doesn’t know the words, but she’s saying, ‘something, something, Paw Patrol.’ As long as you get to the Woah! It’s a pretty interesting song by WWE standards.

“I can say this, it can never change. Unless I was to go bad guy, then that song is out, I suppose, but I’m locked into it. We’re married together,” Cody Rhodes said. [WrestlingNews.co]
