Eric André takes an unorthodox approach to familiarizing himself with John Cena’s wife in this Little Brother sneak peek.
Last seen together on The Eric André Show in 2020, André and Cena are reuniting for Netflix’s upcoming comedy Little Brother.
“I’m pretty sure I gave him a concussion,” Cena told Entertainment Weekly. “We’ve been in contact for a while.” For context, the former Undisputed WWE Champion once tossed the comedian through a bookcase, sending him to the hospital.
André plays Marcus, a good-natured man who struggles to form genuine connections due to being “abandoned and orphaned by families and foster families.”
What is Netflix’s Little Brother about?
Marcus’ initial interaction with Cena’s character, Rudd, comes when Rudd volunteers for a Big Brother/Little Brother program. “He took me out for a few weekends; it was very important to me,” André said of Marcus, calling the experience “memorable.”
Twenty years later, Rudd has “completely forgotten all about it.” One day, he receives a call that his brother is in the hospital. Assuming something has happened to his older biological brother Josh, played by Christopher Meloni, Rudd rushes to the hospital. “He opens the curtain, and he and his wife see me. And they’re like, ‘Who the f*** is this guy?’”
Before long, André adds, “I charm my way into the wife’s heart, then the kids love me, and then everybody loves me, but I’m just driving [Rudd] nuts because I’m nuts.”
Michelle Monaghan also joins the cast as Deirdre, Cena’s on-screen wife, who has grown tired of Rudd’s uptight personality and quickly forms a bond with Marcus. That bond includes Marcus teaching Deirdre how to get her spark back with Cena’s Rudd.
“I’m like her gal pal, you know, we’re doing our nails together and drinking wine,” he adds. “I’m trying to help her brainstorm ways to get the spark back. God, I don’t know what I’m not allowed to spoil, but I talk her into the ancient art of analingus,” he reveals with a laugh. “A Hail Mary method of reigniting that beautiful part of the relationship. She spits out her wine in shock, and then is slowly convinced and educated about the ancient art.”
Little Brother premieres on Netflix on June 26.
