Former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens addressed a past moment involving The New Day, something that goes back years.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods left WWE this week. Their exit followed reports about contract restructuring, which they did not accept. Kingston later shared a message after his departure, long and reflective, looking back at his career.
He spoke about his time in WWE, nearly two decades, and also about his bond with The New Day Many wrestlers reacted to his post. Kevin Owens was one of them.

Kevin Owens replied to Kingston’s message. He praised both Kingston and Woods. He also mentioned his short time with the New Day. He wrote, “Fantastic wrestler and an even better human being. Same can be said for Woods. Thank you guys for allowing me to join you guys for that one week…and seriously, I’m so sorry for turning on you.”
Back in 2019, after Kofi Kingston defeated Bryan Danielson at WrestleMania 35 to win the WWE Championship, Kevin Owens joined The New Day for a short run. He appeared as an honorary member, called Big O, stepping in while Big E was injured.
The role did not last long, just one week, and then it shifted quickly. Owens turned on Kingston and Xavier Woods soon after joining, a sudden change in direction. That moment led into matches between Owens and Kingston, continuing over the next weeks.
They faced each other at Money in the Bank 2019, where Kingston retained the WWE Championship. The events stayed part of their shared history, referenced again now. The recent message from Owens connects that past moment to the present situation, following Kingston and Woods’ departure.
