Former WWE Champion Big E Writing Autobiography

Former WWE Champion Big E is preparing to share the story behind his inspiring journey. The WWE star aims to release his first autobiography in early 2027.

Titled How I Got Over: Healing from Depression and Psychosis to Find Joy In and Out of the Ring, the memoir will offer an honest look at Ettore “Big E” Ewen’s life. It won’t just focus on his success in WWE but also the struggles he faced behind the scenes.

Big E’s upcoming autobiography will detail his mental health battles

According to an Amazon listing, the 320-page book will be published by BenBella Books. It is scheduled for release on February 2, 2027.

The memoir reveals that Big E dealt with depression and psychosis long before becoming a WWE superstar.

“At twenty, Ettore Ewen didn’t expect to make it to twenty-five,” the book’s description states, showing just how serious his struggles were. During that period of his life, he believed he would spend years relying on antidepressants and antipsychotic medications while moving in and out of psychiatric facilities.

The book traces those struggles back to his childhood in Florida. It explores how a strict upbringing, changing schools frequently, body image issues, and difficulty fitting in led to depressive thoughts as early as the age of nine.

As he got older, those challenges grew. Big E earned a football scholarship to the University of Iowa. However, the pressure of academics, injuries, and expectations took a toll on his mental health. According to the memoir, those struggles eventually developed into hallucinations and a difficult journey through treatment and recovery.

Alongside his personal story, the book will revisit the wrestling career that made him a household name.

After injuries ended his football dreams, Ewen joined WWE’s developmental system in 2009. He debuted on the main roster in 2012 alongside Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee before carving out his own identity.

The defining chapter of his career came when he teamed with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to form The New Day.

Big E’s in-ring career came to a sudden stop after he suffered a serious neck injury during a match on SmackDown in 2022. Although he remained hopeful about returning for years, he officially confirmed his retirement earlier in 2026.

The autobiography will also touch on Big E’s efforts to find his voice as a performer, the injuries that tested his determination, and the relationships he built throughout the wrestling world.
