The May 5, 2026 episode of WWE NXT kicked off with chaos. D’Angelo didn’t wait for challengers and instead attacked Tavion Heights while he was sitting at a table. Later, he confronted General Manager Robert Stone and demanded a match with Heights. However, he was attacked by Kam Hendrix during a backstage segment that changed the course of the match.
Because of the attack, the main event had to be called off for the moment. Stone announced a mixed tag bout between The Culling and the team of Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana to replace it.
Later on, Heights was seen frustrated backstage, but Myles Borne told him the delay might actually help him. Soon after, Stone returned with another update that Hendrix had been thrown out of the building, and D’Angelo was cleared to compete. The main event was back on.
Kam Hendrix rams Tony D’Angelo into a wall during a chaotic WWE NXT backstage segment
When Hendrix attacked D’Angelo backstage, he came from behind and slammed D’Angelo head-first into the wall, leaving a big hole behind.
Although the main event was called off after this for a moment, it finally happened, and it delivered. Heights showed off his skills with strong takedowns and suplexes, including a big Karelin lift that nearly won him the match. D’Angelo fought back hard, hitting German suplexes and slowly taking control again.
Then came the outside interference.
Hendrix came back and tried to interfere again. But before things could get worse, Myles Borne jumped in and took Hendrix out with a tope con giro, chasing him into the crowd.
Back in the ring, D’Angelo took advantage. He hit a chokeslam on Heights and picked up the win.
After the match, D’Angelo showed respect by helping Heights up, and the two shared a handshake. But out of nowhere, Mason Rook, formerly known as Will Kroos, ran in and attacked both men.
