AEW star Will Ospreay won’t reveal too many details about his neck injury.
In July 2025, Will Ospreay revealed that he had long battled a neck injury, which an MRI later revealed to be two herniated discs. According to Ospreay, it resulted from the build-up of continuous physical activity and strain. The source of his initial neck pain, however, is still unknown as “The Aerial Assassin” intends to keep that information close to the vest.
I don’t want to put it out there just because I feel like people are going to search for it, and people are going to want to pin it on someone to blame,” Ospreay told Forbes when asked if a certain move triggered his original neck pain. “But I’ll be honest with you, it wasn’t one thing. It was an accumulation of it just going and going and going until finally my body just said, ‘This is enough now. We can’t take it anymore.'”
With doctor clearance, Ospreay briefly returned to the ring for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, where he earned a Lights Out Steel Cage victory over The Young Bucks, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Gabe Kidd. A post-match attack from Castagnoli and Moxley then wrote Ospreay off of AEW programming so he could undergo neck surgery in September.
In March 2026, Ospreay resurfaced once more when he issued a counterattack on The Death Riders at AEW Revolution. Since then, he’s competed in several matches, including a string of bouts in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
