AJ Styles Believes The New Day Will Thrive After WWE Departure

WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles recently spoke about The New Day’s WWE departure and shared his thoughts on what could come next for Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. The longtime tag team officially left WWE after contract discussions reportedly did not work out.

Following the news, Kingston posted a heartfelt message reflecting on his long WWE career. Woods, also known as Austin Creed, also looked back on his 16-year journey, mentioning the memories, championships, and bond he shared with The New Day.

After their departure, reports said their contracts were set to run until 2024. As many fans started wondering if AEW could be their next stop, AJ Styles recently spoke about the situation.

AJ Styles says The New Day will figure things out after WWE exit

Speaking on The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, AJ Styles reacted to reports that Kingston and Woods may have wanted out of WWE. He said, “I couldn’t tell you if that’s true or not. They’re smart guys who did well and I’m sure saved their money. So if they weren’t happy with whatever, then, it wouldn’t surprise me they’d go, ‘Okay. We’ll just go do our own thing.’”

“They’re freaking brilliant guys, they’re awesome guys. I can’t say enough positive things. These are the guys you wanna hang out with… Man, it kind of bums me out a little bit, right? Because everybody loves them.” Styles continued, “I’d have no doubt that they have a plan. That’s for sure.”

Styles then praised both stars and said he would not be surprised if they decided to move on and do their own thing. “They’re very smart. They’ll figure something out—what the next step is. I wonder if they have the 90-day clause? I would assume. I don’t know. I don’t know if it’s a release. I’m sure they do. If they asked for their release, does it still — I don’t know.” [H/T: Fightful]
