Kevin Nash recently reacted to reports of WWE talent taking pay cuts while ticket prices for live events continue to rise. Over the past few weeks, multiple reports have claimed that several WWE wrestlers were asked to restructure their contracts.
According to the reports, some talent agreed to the new terms while others decided against it. Former WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods reportedly left the company after contract restructuring discussions did not work out.
Following the reports, Kevin Nash questioned why WWE fans are still paying expensive ticket prices if the company is also reducing wrestler salaries.
Kevin Nash questions why WWE fans are still paying high ticket prices amid reported talent pay cuts
Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash discussed the financial side of WWE production and explained why he believes ticket prices should decrease if talent are being paid less. He said, “So, if you’re looking at television production, I don’t know. I have no idea what the cost is, but let’s just say ballpark. Back in the day, we could shoot a Nitro for a half a million. The building, that isn’t going to go up.”
“You know, the cost of the building’s not going to go up, right? If you’re paying the talent less, you’ve got a 50%, 50% saving there. Now, I could only think that at that point, I think that at that point, the ticket prices go down, and if they can’t work it out financially, maybe some of the higher-ups could kick a little of their golden parachute back in.”
“You know, help out the working man a little bit because we all know how that always happens in America. It’s always about Main Street, not Wall Street. So, I mean, yeah, I could see probably a 50%, with a 50%. It would only make sense, right? 50% pay cut to the guys, tickets are 50% off.”
