The rivalry between MJF and Darby Allin took a funny turn on the May 13, 2026, episode of AEW Dynamite when MJF got hilariously trolled backstage by a group of bald men.
The whole hair storyline began to take root after Allin offered MJF a condition to attain a rematch. After Allin defeated MJF for the AEW World Championship, Friedman desperately wanted another title match. He even tried bribing Allin with money and his famous Dynamite Diamond Ring for another title shot. But Darby Allin rejected all of it.
The champion said he would agree only if MJF agreed to put his hair on the line. Allin mocked him by bringing up rumors about him traveling to Turkey for a hair transplant procedure. He joked that MJF cares more about his hair than the world title itself. Fans also ran with the joke, and the “Bald!” chants have followed Friedman ever since.
The feud has become one of the biggest storylines heading into Double or Nothing.
MJF haunted by bald men on AEW Dynamite ahead of hair vs. title match with Darby Allin
Now, on this week’s Dynamite, AEW fully leaned into the comedy by turning MJF’s fear into a hilarious backstage segment.
During the segment, Friedman was stopped by Renee Paquette and was asked if he was really willing to risk his hair for another shot at the AEW World title. Instead of answering right away, the former AEW World Champion stayed quiet and left her hanging.
However, as he started walking through the parking lot, he looked more uncomfortable as bald people slowly started appearing around him. It seemed like AEW gathered all bald referees, wrestlers, and backstage staff just to tease MJF. The crowd also started chanting “Bald” repeatedly.
Friedman even bumped into Tommaso Ciampa, who deliberately removed his cap to show his bald head to MJF. He then came across The Demand, and just like Ciampa, Ricochet removed his cap and teased MJF, saying, “Don’t worry Max, you’re gonna look great, just not good as me.”
Even with all the humor, the storyline still adds real stakes to the upcoming match. Hair vs. title stipulations have always created memorable moments in wrestling, and MJF’s fear has added more to the feud.
