Scarlett Bordeaux Opens Up About Cleavage Restriction During WWE NXT Run

Former WWE star Scarlett Bordeaux recently opened up about restrictions she faced when joining the company, which put a stop to her popular gimmick that emphasized more sex appeal.

Speaking during an appearance on D-Von Dudley’s podcast alongside Karrion Kross, the topic of their WWE tenure was brought up. Specifically, Kross and Bordeaux explained that a lot of the experience in WWE was what they expected. However, she thought she would get to wrestle as her previous character, which was very over outside of the company.

Scarlett then explained that WWE didn’t want to run with the character, speculating that it conflicted with the ongoing, and more serious, Women’s Revolution movement.

To Bordeaux, this came off as the opposite of female empowerment. Kross added that Scarlett was owning her sexuality, but having her cover up and get away from the character was doing the opposite.

“Telling a woman to take her clothes off is equivalent to saying cover up, basically,” Bordeaux said. “Like, just let me do what the hell I want to do, basically. So, it’s just as bad to like, you know, it’s a different form of objectification.”

Scarlett says producers asked her to cover up before going to the ring

She then recounted that producers would ask her to cover up as she was ready to go out to the ring. To Scarlett, she felt like the company was unsure of what they wanted to do with her.

“I won’t say who, but some of the producers, every single time, like, before going out there, they’d be like, Can you just cover up the cleavage? Can you just pull that down? I’m like, OK, this is clearly not what we’re going for right now,” said Bordeaux.

“But, they really liked the idea of us two together, because after a few months, I’m like, what am I gonna do here? Because I thought they signed me for this character, and they said they liked it, but they don’t want to use it.”

Scarlett and Kross, a real-life married couple, were released from WWE in 2025. Since then, the duo have wrestled on the independent scene, and made a return to the world of Major League Wrestling.
