LA Knight has quietly disappeared from WWE television in recent weeks, and fans have spent plenty of time trying to piece together why one of the company’s loudest stars suddenly went silent after WrestleMania 42.
With momentum seemingly building toward a showdown with Gunther, the timing of the absence raised more eyebrows than a Paul Heyman contract negotiation.
However, a new report suggests there may not be any backstage drama behind Knight’s missing TV time after all.
WWE creative changes reportedly altered LA Knight’s direction
According to Fightful Select, people within WWE and others familiar with the situation have described Knight’s absence as a “non-story.” The report noted there is currently no belief that his time away is tied to injury, contract issues, pay disputes, or WWE’s recent wave of roster cuts.
Before disappearing from RAW, Knight appeared headed toward a feud with Gunther. He had a backstage confrontation with the former WWE Heavyweight Champion on the April 20 episode of the show.
Both men proclaimed interest in the World Heavyweight Championship picture, seemingly setting the table for a major post-WrestleMania rivalry.
Instead, WWE reportedly changed direction quickly after WrestleMania. Gunther moved to SmackDown and engaged in a championship program with Cody Rhodes, leaving Knight without a clear storyline path. Much like a Money in the Bank briefcase with no ladder in sight, the angle suddenly vanished.
Fightful added that several talents reportedly had creative plans adjusted following WrestleMania 42. Nevertheless, details about which wrestlers were affected are still being gathered.
Despite his absence from weekly programming, Knight has remained active in WWE-related appearances. He recently participated in promotional work for SummerSlam 2026 in Minneapolis. He is also scheduled for a WWE-sponsored meet-and-greet event in Maryland next month.
Knight has not wrestled since WrestleMania 42, where he teamed with The Usos against Logan Paul, Austin Theory, and IShowSpeed. For now, WWE has yet to reveal when “The Megastar” will make his return — but fans are still saying “YEAH” while they wait.
