WWE’s Heavily Hyped Newcomer Finally Makes NXT In-Ring Debut

WWE finally unleashed one of its most talked-about new signings inside the ring on the May 19 episode of WWE NXT, and Mason Rook wasted little time making his presence felt.

After weeks of chaos surrounding his arrival, the powerhouse newcomer stepped into action alongside Cam Hendrix against NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo and North American Champion Myles Borne.

Rook entered the match with plenty of momentum already behind him. The former independent standout — previously known as Will Kroos — had become a hot topic after his explosive contract signing segment, where he flattened security guards and rivals with a moonsault that looked more “high risk” than “rest hold.”

Even John Cena gave the newcomer a nod online with the chant, “He’s big, he’s bad, he’ll bodyslam your dad.”

Mason Rook scores a statement win in WWE NXT debut

The tag match quickly turned physical as Rook and Hendrix isolated Myles Borne during the opening stretch.

The rookie duo targeted Borne’s knee while Tony D’Angelo waited for an opening to change the pace. Once D’Angelo finally got the hot tag, the NXT Champion cleaned house and nearly put Hendrix away after a spear.

Still, Rook put on an impressive display throughout the contest. The heavyweight hurled D’Angelo into the ring steps and later stopped Borne mid-air before planting him with an exploder suplex in the corner. Rook then connected with a fireman’s carry into a jackhammer combination that nearly sealed the deal.

The finish came after outside chaos involving Tavion Heights distracted Borne at ringside. As Borne tried to recover, Hendrix shoved Rook aside and stole the spotlight by pinning the North American Champion himself.

Even in victory, there appeared to be tension brewing between the winning partners. Hendrix celebrated the pinfall, while Rook stared him down afterward — proving that in NXT, alliances can change faster than a referee’s count.
