WWE has quietly raised the stakes for one of the featured matches at Saturday Night’s Main Event. This update and opportunity could dramatically alter the trajectory of Sol Ruca’s fast-rising main roster run.
What initially appeared to be a non-title showdown with Becky Lynch has now taken a very different turn heading into the weekend event in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The adjustment comes just days after Lynch openly questioned whether Ruca had done enough to deserve a championship opportunity.
On the May 18 episode of WWE Raw, “The Man” pointed to Ruca’s recent losses since her call-up from NXT and insisted the Women’s Intercontinental Championship would not be on the line.

Despite Lynch’s earlier stance, WWE later released an updated match graphic on Instagram, officially confirming that the Women’s Intercontinental Championship will now be defended at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
WWE captioned the announcement: “@beckylynchwwe puts the Women’s #ICTitle on the line this weekend at #SNME against @solrvca!”
Interestingly, no explanation has been provided on television regarding the sudden change. Lynch has also not publicly addressed the updated stipulation in character, though she did repost the graphic to her Instagram story.
Earlier this week, she referred to herself on Threads as a “fighting champion,” which may have been a subtle nod to the decision.
For Ruca, the opportunity marks her first shot at championship gold since joining the RAW roster after WrestleMania 42.
The former NXT Women’s North American Champion and WWE Women’s Speed Champion has already built a reputation for stealing the show with her athletic style. If she pulls off the upset, it could be a Sol-survivor moment for the 26-year-old newcomer.
The title match also strengthens an already championship-heavy Saturday Night’s Main Event card, with four of the five announced matches now featuring WWE gold on the line.
